INTRODUCTION



Penang International Invention, Innovation and Design (PIID 2025) is a virtual innovation event organized by the Research Management Unit in collaboration with the Chemical Engineering Studies Department, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Cawangan Pulau Pinang. This platform aims to showcase the creativity and expertise of students, academicians, industry players, and professionals in presenting their innovations, inventions, and designs across various disciplines, including science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and social sciences. It is also in line with the government’s policy to encourage research activities in Malaysia and Sustainable Development Goals. Besides, this event is motivated by the previous success of PIID 2023. This event is a competition in product commercialization, idea, invention and design that has a high quality innovation. The competition will be judged by juries from the industry and academia with experiences in innovation, commercialization and research. PIID 2025 promote ‘Empowering a sustainable future through smart innovation’ as a competition theme.



Objectives


Penang International Invention, Innovation and Design Competition 2025 is organizing to promote following objectives:

  1. To promote an innovation culture among students, academicians, researchers in Institute of Higher Learning, Technical Institution and schools at local and international level.
  2. To cultivate invention, innovation and design towards commercialization at local and international level.
  3. To produce scholar among academician and researcher based on invention and innovation culture in all related field.
  4. To enhance visibility of researcher and inventor locally and internationally.

  Only e-certificate will be given. Need to pay for medal and hardcopy certificates.

Category B (UNI): University and Technical Institution Student

  Early 100 Participants Registration: RM100

  B1 : UiTM
Normal Fee : RM150

  B2 : IPTA/IPTS/Others
Normal Fee (Local) : RM200
Normal Fee (International) : USD75

Details Rules:

  Maximum to 6 members, including maximum 2 advisors.
  Student as a project leader.
  Only 1 hardcopy certificate and 1 medal will be given. Need to pay for extra medal and hardcopy certificates.

Category C (PRO): Academician, Industry and Professional

Normal Fee (Local) : RM300
Normal Fee (International) : USD100

Details Rules:

  Academician of IHLs, Research Centres, Government Institutions, Private Institutions, Industry and others.
  Maximum to 6 members.
  Only 1 hardcopy certificate and 1 medal will be given. Need to pay for extra medal and hardcopy certificates.



Payment Instruction




  1. All participants are required to make their payment via FINEPAY only.

  2. Participants must log in to their PIID2025 account to access the FINEPAY payment link.

  3. Participants under Category B (University and Technical Institution Students) are eligible for the early bird rate if the designated FINEPAY link is still active. This rate is limited to the first 100 participants who have successfully registered and completed payment.

  4. All participants must enter their Project ID in the payment form before proceeding with the payment.

  5. All payment receipts must be submitted as proof of payment. The participants need to scan the receipt and convert it into a PDF format file then upload it through their PIID2025 account. Payment confirmation and acknowledgement will be updated in the system within two (2) weeks after verification.
